I’m launching this newsletter to share my successes and failures with starting, building, and growing a Software as a Service business.
Why Write about Starting a SaaS Business?
My goal with this newsletter is to share my journey and to help others start and build valuable and meaningful businesses.
I believe that we are moving to a gig economy, this isn’t new to most people, but it’s becoming more evident. And while there are many pros and cons to this change, it can be a net positive resulting in a less fragile and more robust global economy.
The challenges will be with bringing the learnings to the masses. If this publication can help to do that, it will have been worth it. It’s a win-win-win.
A win for me because sharing with others will help reinforce my learnings and speed up my improvement. A win for you because you will have access to my experience, both successes and failures, to build on top of, and a win for society.
One of my favorite learnings from Ray Dalio’s book, Principles, is that of evolution. Combined with the belief that the system is constantly optimizing for the group over the individual, it makes sense that the more I help others, the more I help myself.
Evolution is the single greatest force in the universe; it is the only thing that is permanent and it drives everything.
What to Expect
This newsletter is still an experiment. While the long-term frequency and content are still unknown, I’m committing to publishing at least a weekly newsletter, video, or podcast over the next 12 months, where I plan to share the following:
an objective reflection of how the business is going
actual metrics and KPIs
lessons learned, all the good and bad from the previous week
action steps for the upcoming week
Up Next
With Starting SaaS, I’m starting from scratch. I’m currently in the ideation phase. In the next issue, I’ll share my process for generating ideas, setting selection criteria, timeboxing, and setting the decision-making process with a bias toward action.
